Apple’s latest event sparked a lot of talk about the new products and software that will be available very soon. iPhone 11, 11Pro, Pro Max, iPad, and a new Apple watch. Plus, new software and apps like Apple TV and Apple Arcade. This all sounds great, but let’s be real. Is there really a difference between what you have already, and the new things Apple just put out? The answer to that question is simply, yes. Even though it may not look like it every generation of Apple device is different. Do some elements stay the same, such as the front facing camera on MacBooks for years? Yes, that happens too. But one thing that doesn’t stay the same are the internal components that operate the device.
Inside Apple devices, like the iPhone, are internal components like processors and data storage. Apple has large teams working to improve these components for each new device. The more fluidly these components work together the better your device performs. This means longer battery life, apps running smoother, and better cameras. Which leads to better overall experience. During the event Apple announced their latest processor, the A13 is to replace the A12. Apple claims it is 20% faster and uses 40% less power. In the iPad they added a new component to add a keyboard. No connectors, no pairing, no batteries, no charging. Maybe your current device isn’t running like it used to, maybe it’s time to treat yourself with an upgrade.
I mentioned the smart keyboard. Of course, it only works with iPads, and by that, I mean the most recent ones released. Just like the most recent Apple pencil. The cameras are also getting an upgrade. If you felt two cameras weren’t enough to capture the best picture now there are three camera’s working together to give you the best quality photo. This available on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. For those of us who want to save a few dollars but still upgrade the base iPhone 11 improved its cameras as well. It only has two cameras, but were improved to allow wider pictures, capture more light, and allow more features in the camera app. Features like 4k video, night mode, even being able to zoom in and out. The front facing camera was improved too, that means better selfies.
Most importantly Apple is releasing new and improved software to run on these devices. iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and Catalina for Macintosh computers. iOS 13 is packed full of new features like swipe texting, dark mode, improved toolbars, enhanced privacy and security. Catalina improves security with the gatekeeper and security protocols. The new OS even gets rid of iTunes to replace it with apps like Apple Music and Podcasts to bring consistency across all platforms. New apps introduced were AppleTV and Apple Arcade. AppleTV will feature TV+ original TV Shows, plus thousands of movies and tv streaming.
Long story short, you can keep your current Apple devices and run the new software being released. You will only be missing out on a few features. If those features aren’t your fancy, then no reason to go spend your hard-earned money. But if you’re looking for a good reason to ditch your stone-aged Apple device then there are plenty of excuses out there. With all the hype about the new Apple stuff you won’t have to look far to find a reason to spoil yourself or family with a new Apple device.
